L'heure Bleue, by Jérôme Blin

Summer 2023 – L’heure bleue* is the moment between day and night, dawn or dusk, when the sky fills with an intense, almost unreal ultramarine. Very low on the horizon, the sun only distills ultraviolet rays which then halo Paris with an aura of mystery. It is the hour of dark clarity that fascinates photographers, the hour when the City of Light awakens to its nocturnal splendor.

The blue hour is the favorite moment of the Parisienne, this free, cultivated and curious, elegantly cheeky Parisian woman who inspired the designer Jérôme Blin for this exhibition.

From the entrance a traditional kimono revisited by dazzling blue sleeves set the tone. Between indoor dress and evening gown, it embodies this time when the border is blurred between public life and intimacy. The lobby showcases the couturier boldness. Sets of twilight jeans are adorned with long black fringes and hot glue laces, a true signature of Jérôme Blin. A basting thread, a raw edge give them a note of casual punk rock. A pack of Gitanes set as a clutch evokes the French singer Serge Gainsbourg, his irreverence, his songs and his muses who are also the universe of Jérôme Blin.

Under the large Murano chandelier, and in the windows, the dresses takes on the festive accents of the Parisian night. From the blue swirls emerges the radiance of a fuchsia lamé.
Maxi-plumetis, embroidery, brocade, tulle alongside strap hooks, but also glue, cast bronze or ceramic inlay, the genre mashups are an ode to freedom.

The precious sophistication of the techniques is matched by the simplicity of an attire that adorn the body like a jewel. The idea culminates in the collection of collars and breastplates that makes you in a while the queen of the night.

Flower designer converted to Couture, Jérôme Blin likes to weave bridges between the arts. He thus associates, for some achievements, with talented master bronzer, glassmaker and and trimmings jewellery designer. Collars and breastplates result from these unique alchemies. Two sumptuous creations finally decline a harmony of soft pink, gray like the dawn, as if to remind us that the blue hour is also the moment when the beauties of the night come back home.

Two wise bodices reserve delicate provocations on their backs. A large Japanese embroidery and a spectacular cascade of roses remind us in a quintessential romanticism that the blue hour is also the time when birds wake up and flowers exude their most bewitching fragrances.
