Winter 2023 – An ancestral symbol of Japanese tradition, the kimono has become an icon of the most current fashion. The exhibition Kimonos Couture presents a set of sixteen kimonos reinterpreted by the Parisian house LetzMartin.
With its geometric simplicity, the shape of the kimono lends itself to all kinds of textile fantasies. With boldness and brilliance, the duo of designers Pierre Letz and Daniel Martin revisit the dress of the Land of the Rising Sun through emblematic materials of French elegance, not hesitating to associate the most opulent tweeds with floral brocades or striped satins. From the meeting of East and West comes a resolutely individual wardrobe where each piece is unique.
In mid-length or short versions, these kimonos are the essential part of an outfit. Even better, their reversible nature makes them two garments in one. Thus an elegant tweed kimono worn during the day is transformed in an instant into a sumptuous evening dress, ideal for a cocktail party or a performance at the Opera.
Kimono Couture Exhibition, until March 20, 2023 – Free admission.
